Once a Tramp, Always a Tramp

« on: January 28, 2010, 03:23:52 PM »

Hi All,
I sorta dropped of the radar this month. I've been in town sitting with a terminal friend. A friend of 35 years. He finally succumed to organ failure due to cancer on the 16th of Jan. I was at his side to the end. Also chosen to euligize him at the service on the 22nd. So I've been in town for most of the month. Finally back home and the draw down has me sleeping 12 to 16 hours at a stretch. I'll be in and out for a bit yet.

Scoots, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. What a beautiful act of kindness - to take the time to be with him as you did. Peace to you. and a big hug.

Don't worry; you didn't miss much.  This entire web site has pretty much dropped off of the radar too.

Sorry to hear of your loss.  Welcome back.

What else could I do. He and I had been thru thick and thin together for 35 years. That kind of loyalty and friendship is only repaid by being there when he needed me the worst. It was brutal to see and listen to him the last week. I kept thinking that we treat our animals with more respect by euthenization. He even asked his Hospice Nurse to PLEASE call Dr. Jack (Kevorkian) and let him go easy. She upped his morphine and shook her head. She and I washed him after his passing. I helped clean and change him to dry clean clothing before the mortician came to pick him up.
Thanx everyone for your words
